Kandinsky makes and tours new theatre nationally and internationally. Each show is made collaboratively, with an ensemble of performers and creatives. This process allows us to make theatre that is not only playful and entertaining, but which disrupts, challenges and enlivens an audience’s view of the world.
With commissions from theatres including Royal Exchange Manchester, New Diorama London, and Schauspielhaus Wien; our shows have toured the UK and transferred internationally to the Schaubühne, Berlin and 59E59 Theater New York.
The company is run by James Yeatman and Lauren Mooney.
James Yeatman
James has directed and co-written all of Kandinsky’s productions to date.

Lauren Mooney
Lauren co-runs Kandinsky and has worked on all the company’s shows since 2015, variously as a writer, producer and dramaturg. Credits as a dramaturg beyond the company include Fanboy (Pleasance / Soho), ColLab (annually at LAMDA since 2020) and forthcoming My Mother’s Funeral: The Show (Paines Plough Roundabout / UK tour 2024). Additionally, she has worked as a reader for the Royal Court and National Theatre, holds multiple audio credits with Big Finish as both a writer and script editor, and has written for Exeunt, The Stage and The Guardian. Before going freelance, she worked for two years in the literary and producing team at Clean Break Theatre Company, where she co-edited their monologue collection Rebel Voices (Methuen, 2019).
Lauren is a graduate of the Royal Court Playwriting course and the Creative Writing (Prose) MA at University of East Anglia, where she held the David Higham scholarship. Her prose fiction is represented by Veronique Baxter at DHA.
